Turvakolmio Ltd is a security company, established in 1993, specializing in contracting and engineering security systems. They operate throughout Finland, the main focus being on the Helsinki metropolitan area. The aim is to serve their customers with a comprehensive solution based on the customer's business operations and the required security level. The bases for their business are the high expertise and reliability leading to the long term customer relationship. Turvakolmio Ltd has been authorized, as per the acceptance procedures of the Finnish insurance companies, to plan and install alarm device solutions and it has the EN ISO 9001:2000 quality system certificate.
I also attached the presentation of Hyria Education Safety and Security department. It describes the different qualifications that we offer at our college. Hyria’s Hanna Iisakkila Rojas is a Teacher of Basic Vocational Education (EQF 4), and Markus is an Edult Educator of Specialist Vocational Qualification (EQF 5). In Finland the basic vocational qualification will be unified for young and adult students this year, but Further and Specialist Vocational Qualifications require some work experience from the students, so basically that is for adult learners.
The background for the visit was that Hyria Education invited work life partners to participate in a study visit to Sweden (Axis Communication) and The Netherlands (Horizon College). The aim of the study visit is to enhance the cooperation with education institution and work life, to develop and compare vocational qualifications (also different levels), to search for cooperation partners as well as to internationalise the studies offered.
Cooperation with work life is very crucial for education institutions, as only in that way we can provide such competence that meets the needs of the businesses and industry. Turvakolmio and Veikkaus are companies with which Hyria is cooperating and we aim to deepen the relationship to partnership in order to develop further the quality of education we provide. We would like to develop win-win cooperation with the companies, to find joint working methods, to bring up-to date competence by involving work life partners in planning and delivering of education.
At Hyria, the aim is to offer concrete and practical education, and to develop our vocational qualifications, as well as to compare vocational qualifications (also different levels) of the other countries. Benchmarking is a good way to develop the education, to familiarise oneself with different educational levels, and to hear best practises of the others.
Sometimes internationalisation of the studies is a bit challenging for Security and Safety field as laws and regulations determine many issues e.g. in student exchanges. Our aim is to find new pathways, within which we could increase the level of internationalisation in our department. We are cooperating internationally, but we would have more potential for that. International cooperation is the reason that we are visiting Horizon College at the Netherlands, after the visit in Sweden, if possible.
This trip originated actually from joint development of Special Vocational Qualification for Security Officers/Säkerhetsvakt (specialyrkesexamen) (EQF level 5). We are currently planning together “Security technology planning and project management” study unit. Hyria’s Adult Educators bring the pedagogical competence and the knowledge of qualification requirements in the planning. Turvakolmio is an expert of the field, and they are responsible for the contents of the study unit. In this way, Turvakolmio receives more information about education and they are able to influence the field. Hyria receives expertise of contracting and engineering security systems, as well as from project management.
